Nursery Admissions - September 2018

From the 1st September 2017, the school will be responsible for managing Nursery admissions.

When will my child start at nursery?

Children born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015 can apply for nursery places from the 1st February 2018 to 16th March 2018. Your application will be for a nursery place for September 2018.

How do I apply?

Print off the application form found at the top of this page and hand in to the school office by 16th March 2018.

 

How are applications considered?

Once the closing date has arrived, we will then consider all the applications made. It there are less than 30 applications made, all offers will be made. If we receive more applications, then the following will be applied.

1. Does your child have an EHCP?

2. Is your child a looked after child?

3. Does your child have any medical or social reasons why Summerswood is the school they should go to?

4. Does your child have a sibling in the school?

5. Child of Staff Members

6. Are you taking up the 30 hour offer?

7.The distance you live from the school.

To be eligible for criteria 1-3, further documents will be required at the point of application. If these are not sent in with the application form, these criteria will not be considered.

We welcome visits to the school and will happily show you round. Please contact the school office.

We understand that for many of you this is the first time you will be applying for a place for your child. There are no silly questions in our school - so please make sure you raise any queries to help ensure you don't miss out on the process.

Online system opens for you to apply online.

Nov / Dec 2018

15 January 2019

Deadline to apply for a school place.

1 February 2019

  • Last date to submit a written explanation giving reasons why your application was late, for your application to be agreed as ‘on time’.

  • If you move house, this is the last date for you to provide evidence of your new address and for it to be considered ‘on time’ in the allocation process.

4 March 2019

Applications received after this date will not be offered a school place until the week commencing 17 June 2019.

16 April 2019

National allocation day

We will email you the school you've been allocated, if you applied online and confirmed your email address. The online allocation system will be updated with allocations and be available only after allocation emails have been sent.

Notification letters will be posted first class only to parents or carers who applied on paper.

If you applied online, you can use online facilities including appeals and continuing interest.

16 – 22 April 2019

Continuing interest applications open.

You can add new school preferences for some Hertfordshire schools for the first continuing interest run. Information will be available online on 16 April 2019.

16 – 30 April 2019

Continuing interest lists are created.

Applicants with unmet higher preferences will automatically go on the list for those schools.

Parents or carers should confirm this with schools responsible for their own admissions.

30 April 2019

Last date for accepting the place offered.

Online applicants must accept the place online.

Paper applicants should return their response form to the Admissions and Transport team.

13 – 17 May 2019

First continuing interest run.

We'll contact you with an offer of a new school place, if you're successful at the first continuing interest run.

22 May 2019 (4pm)

Last date to register an appeal.

20 – 28 May 2019

Continuing interest applications open for the second run.

You can add new school preferences for any school for the second continuing interest run.

28 May 2019

Last date to register a change of preferences or for new applications to be added for the second continuing interest run.

17 – 23 June 2018

Second (and final) continuing interest run.

We'll contact you with an offer of a new school place, if you're successful at the second continuing interest run.

June – August 2019

If school vacancies occur, places will be filled from remaining continuing interest lists.

20 June – 24 July 2019

School place appeals take place during this period.

June 2019

To retain your continuing interest for a Hertfordshire junior or middle school, you will need to make an in year application from June 2019 (exact date to be confirmed).

24 July 2019

To retain your continuing interest for a Hertfordshire primary school, you'll need to make an in year application from 24 July.
