Welcome

Summerswood Happy Flashmob 2016

Headteacher Sarah Kneller and her team are back again dancing to celebrate their recent Ofsted success. After 13 years of under-performance, Summerswood has been graded as 'Good' and the staff are just so 'Happy'!

A warm welcome from our Headteacher

Dear Families and Visitors,

I am delighted to be leading Summerswood Primary School  on our 'Pathway to Success'.

Together, we are building on our strengths to achieve the best possible outcomes for all children and ensure that we fulfill Summerswood’s Five Fundamentals.

At Summerswood we aim to ensure that everybody:

1) Reaches their full potential

2) Loves learning and develops life-long learning skills

3) Feels safe, happy and healthy

4) Develops high levels of self esteem and emotional intelligence and excellent social skills

5) Is 21st century ready

Our school is  happy, caring and inclusive. The staff and governors value all of our pupils equally and celebrate everyone’s diversity. We place a high value on mutual trust and respect. We expect our children to work hard and take ownership of their learning; to maintain high standards of self-discipline and courtesy at all times.

At Summerswood, working in partnership with parents and carers is a priority as we face the challenge of meeting the developmental and learning needs of your child. We place a high value on the positive relationship we have with families as this partnership is crucial to ensure your child is successful, both academically and socially. After all, no-one knows your child as well as you. Our school is a place where children, parents and staff respect each other and enjoy working together.

Throughout the school year, alongside the Governing Body and Senior Leadership team, I will be evaluating and reviewing the provision we offer to ensure the best possible learning opportunities for your child. We will be developing our teaching as we strive to develop resilient, resourceful and responsible citizens of the future who want to achieve to the very best they can.

I hope that you will find our website informative, useful and a good introduction to life at the school. However there is no substitute for visiting the school and seeing us all in action and we warmly welcome the opportunity to show you around.

Kind regards,

Sarah Kneller
