Children become imaginative composers and performers who are inspired by different genres of music. Music is a golden thread bringing cultural diversity to the curriculum through instruments and song.
At Summerswood we teach music using the online platform Charanga.
Charanga provides schemes from Reception to Year 6 and ensures we meet the requirements of the national curriculum, providing children with a well rounded musical education. Children are exposed to a wide variety of musical genres and develop the skills to become confident performers.
Year 4 are enjoying learning the Djembe this year with Hertfordshire Music Service.
Please see below for our whole school overview and progression of skills.
In addition to our weekly music lessons and singing assemblies, we have private guitar and piano tuition taking place in school.
We also support the children who take part in the annual Voice In A Million performance, where the children will sing as part of a mass choir at Wembley Arena.
